Musician Dan Crawford says his “most cherished title is father,” according to a GoFundMe created for his medical expenses.
“I have been given many gifts in my life, but none compares to having four wonderful sons, I am blessed and grateful,” he writes.
From battling Hodgkin’s Disease at age 19 to 23 skin cancer diagnoses, two strokes, a triple bypass, a third stroke, and more, Crawford describes his medical history as “very eventful.”
The campaign says his most recent fight comes after a difficult diagnosis with non-small cell lung cancer.
“Although it was discovered early, new developments in my condition have forced me to seek alternative treatments,” Crawford writes.
Crawford’s treatment of choice is Hope for Cancer, which he says has a $49,000 out-of-pocket cost — his end goal for the campaign.
$4,000 had been raised as of Monday, April 10 for the dedicated dad, who says he “lives for his children.”
“Two are grown young men, of whom I am so very proud,” he writes. “I also have two little ones that would be devastated if I was to die, they're only 10 years old. I am convinced that my time here is not done, but I have to take action.”
In a video update posted to the campaign on Monday, March 27, Crawford says he’s “starting to feel a little bit more human” after starting another round of chemotherapy.
“With everyone’s help, I’ll get to the Hope For Cancer center and put the final touches on this thing and never worry about it again,” he says. “I really appreciate everything; all your good wishes, all your prayers, all your donations, all your prayers just mean the world to me.”
